Samuel Chovanec is a multidisciplinary digital artist and artistic researcher based in Budapest, Hungary.

Focusing on the intersection of technology and art, Samuel Chovanec’s work spans various disciplines, such as interactive installations, virtual reality experiences, and performing arts, with a specific emphasis on researching nonhuman actors in performing arts.

As an independent researcher, Chovanec explores the impact of emerging technologies on theater as a medium, as well as the broader implications of human and nonhuman collaboration. His technical expertise encompasses Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, Blender, and programming languages like Python, C++, and C#.

In academia, Chovanec serves as a PhD candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where he contributed to the growth of digital artists by sharing his knowledge, experiences, and research on nonhuman actors in performing arts. Currently he works as a Research Fellow at Innovation cetner on Moholy Nagy University, specifically in Immersion and Interaction Hub, under the supervision of Ágnes Karolina Bakk.

Chovanec’s professional experience includes roles as a Digital Project Coordinator at the Slovak National Gallery and as a Lead Unreal Engine Developer at Darades. Additionally, he has founded a multidisciplinary artistic group, Asfd Theatre, drawing on his background in performing arts and directing.
